‘Walk Throughs’

This past week the coordinators have been conducting ‘walk throughs’. We would like to thank the teachers who’s classes we visited.

We will continue with more visits this week, then we will give collective  feedback to teachers and departments. We are looking at what is going on, what the student’s experiences are, and what ‘best practices’ are happening.

Our feedback will not be teacher specific. Instead it will be collective feedback based on recognizeing the skillful work of teachers and reinforcing effective strategies (Powell 52-55).

For more information on walkthroughs, you can see “Using observation to improve instruction” by William Powell. This can be found in the MYP DP Blog under the Resources Tab http://gjsmypib.blogspot.co.id/p/ib-resources.html

MYP-DP Teacher Guide

The use of daily Lesson Objectives displayed and shared with students each class is an instructional practice at Global Jaya.  Lesson objectives can be displayed on the board throughout a lesson, projected on a screen, or put on ManageBac.  See p 12 of the “MYP-DP Teacher Guide” for more information, or the attached “Summary of Lesson Objectives”. Both can be found on the “MYP-DP Resource” Tab of the MYP-DP Blog.

Please use these resources to keep yourself up to date with the evolving landscapes and horizons of 21 century approaches to teaching and learning. Knowing your resources and planning based on available information is a great way to demonstrate “Lifelong learning”.
Thank you very much,

Patrick and Vica
