Happening This Week: April 3

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome Back. We hope it was a refreshing vacation; because you're awesome and you deserve it! 

Term 4 is ahead of us, and as always, the end of the year is a particularly busy time.  Over the next few months we will be involved in finalising the IB Wasc Self-Study, units, learning progressions, and getting the end of semester exams and reports ready. We will do our best to provide you with the notifications and guidance needed to help you plan for this busy term.

Please see Pak Andy's email including T 4 meeting times and exams  that he sent March 24 (Dougharty).  The Report information Click Here and PD Schedule Click Here can be found under the MYP-DP Resources Tab above.

If upon viewing the information it looks like you may experience a collision of time;

  • Invest a few minutes to de-stress, practice mindfulness, etc.
  • Remember everyone is working with positive intentions
  • Talk to your colleagues
  • Talk to your HOD
  • Finally, Keep Calm and send the 'Bat Signal' out to the appropriate Principal or Coordinator

MONDAY Period 7



Early release for Students. There will be a special assembly from 11:10-11:50, then  PD.See the Agenda below for Monday afternoon’s meeting.

Friday Extended Tutor Group Time


Friday extended Tutor group students in year 7-10 will be working on communication activities as part of the extended tutor group program. Thank you to all the Tutor Teachers supporting the students with this.

PD and COLLABORATIVE MEETING


Monday.  IB Self Study. Meet in MPH at 1:00. See the Coordinators’ communication for more information. Mixed Group meets in the Library.

Weds. IB Self Study Meet in MPH at 3:00. See the Coordinators’ communication for more information. Mixed Group meets in the library.


IB WASC Self Study Timeline


We will be working in the IB and WASC Self-Study on the following days, with the following goals:


·         Mon April 3. HOD led agenda to guide the IB Evidence gathering self-study process to completion (Meeting in MPH. Patrick, Vica, Tamara, 10 minute intro)

·         Weds April 5. Continue with subject group agenda to complete process (Meeting in MPR3)

·         Weds April 12. Summary and reflection of process. (Meeting in MPR3)

·         Weds April 19. Subject Groups select two completed Units from year 7-10 MYP, and Two completed unit DP Y 11-12 for a total of Four completed units to be used as evidence in self-study. (Meeting in MPR3)


MYP and DP Update


MYP Service and Action update. Year 10 students submitted their Service Action (SA) journals on March 17. Year 7 students submitted their SA journal March 22. Year 8 will submit their journal April 10, and year 9 will submit their journal April 17.

Personal Project update. Year 9 submitted their personal project brainstorm on March 17. This is their second official submission for Personal Project. They will have two more this year.

DP
We would like to thank all the DP teachers for the cooperation and support in the eSubmission of IAs and EAs. We have almost finish the submission at this point. There are only few Arts works left for uploading.

As we are approaching the IB Final exam (28 April - 19 May 2017), Ibu Vica will send the invigilator schedule this week. Kindly read thoroughly and inform her should you have any suggestion/question about it.

EASYBIB.  All students in grade 7-9 have opened an easybib account with Ibu Hellena. She has been visiting classes to help students set them up. She will continue visiting classes in T4 to help student use easybib in specific subjects.

Classes being visited include: Individuals and Societies, Science, Language and Lit, Design.


If you would like her to visit your class, or if you would like to get an easy bib account yourself, plese contact her.

The Easybib account allows students (and teachers) to:



  • Set up a new folder for each project
  • Save and store work
  • Create correct work cited sections
  • Create correct in text citations
  • Create an annotated bibliography with notes of sources
  • Analyze sources
  • View Tutorials and Guides on using citation
