ATL Progression

Requirement C2.1.b. The written curriculum includes an approaches to learning planning chart for all years of the programme.

The IB will evaluate this requirement by reviewing the approaches to learning chart.


This document was created in the 2014-2015 school year based on action research conducted into ATLs by the departments. Representatives from each department worked together to create this document based on what teachers learned about ATLs through action research. Information for PYP was added by the PYP coordinator and Principal in 2015-16. Information about DP was added by the DP coordinator in 2016-17. These sections were added not as a guide to the PYP or DP teachers, but to help inform the MYP teacher where the students are coming from and going to.

This is a living document and should be reviewed at the end of each year by the Coordinator, Curriculum Coordinator, and HODS to ensure that it both reflects the practice that is happening and is a realistic guide to help teachers set goals when planning learning experiences.
