This week’s message

We have a lot happening over the next few weeks to prepare for the WASC IB Visit.  At the start of the self-study, we used the above picture of a shark made up of goldfish to illustrate our school; we are all members of smaller teams, that are members of bigger teams, that together make up a team of teams that is our school.

An important reason for the visit is to have us thinking about how we work. To help people have a better overview of things happening please see the different sections of this blog. On the top you will see links to the Head of School Blog, the Curriculum Blog, and The school visit Blog.

You will also see tabs at the top of this page for information that is important for you to know and use, including:
  • IDU’s
  • BQC
  • Service and Action Curriculum links
  • ATL Progression and Planning Chart
  • Feedback from Classroom Walkthroughs

Below on this post you will find information on: 1. unit completion check lists,  2. BQC feedback, 3. Questions to think about as we prepare for the visit, 4. a list of school initiatives for the past few years, 5. upcoming events.

1.    Unit Completion Checklist

In the appendix of the MYP DP Teacher guide you will find the Unit Completion Checklist for both MYP and DP. Please take time to survey the checklists to look for answers to questions you have about our curriculum and units.

The checklists can be found in the appendix of the MYP DP Teacher Guide Click Here or see the MYP DP Resources tab above.

2.    Building Quality  Curriculum Feedback

Please use the checklists in conjunction with the feedback on units from BQC. In many cases the feedback is very detailed, explicit, and helpful including guidance on how to enter information into the MB Unit Planner interface.

The current BQC feedback for all units can be found here.Click Here fo BQC feedback

3. Questions for the visit

·        How does the School Vision and Mission influence your teaching
·        How do you develop the LPs (School wide outcomes) in planning and teaching
·        How do you incorporate the ATLs (School wide competencies)

How do you use collaboration to complete unit planners?
What interdisciplinary teaching is there? How are IDUs developed?

How are scheduled meetings used for collaborative planning and reflection?
Can you explain the subject Group Overview of Units (The subject specific vertical planner)
How do units of work relate to the subject objectives?
