This Week’s Message

Thank you all for the completion of the Reports last week! This week is a busy one with a number of items that will impact lessons and planning. Weds will be sports carnival day so there will be no classes. Thursday Y 10 will have no classes as they are presenting their PP. Year 9 will come and visit the exhibition so they will miss some classes. Friday there is a special assembly at 10:30-11:50. Please plan accordingly.

It is also a busy week for us as we focus on Standardization of assessment using the Personal Project. Monday after school there will be a PD session, please see the information on the page below under Personal Project Corner. Next week Monday and Weds afterschool will be dedicated to working in our Personal Project assessment teams.

Below on this page, you will find information about:

  •     Personal Project Submission and Presentation Monday and Thursday

  •     Standardization PD and Personal Project, including a scrolling PDF of Task-Specific Clarification that I coded (Those who know me know me as ‘Neo’ lord of the matrix), and a video of Personal Project standardization webinar for those ambitious enough to watch it for an hour (also hacked open by me, ‘Neo’, lord of the matrix)

  •     The “Around the School” section where you will see examples of Command Term displays around the school.

Personal Project Submission Monday

students should submit their digital copy before 7:25 am

  • They should submit 3 copies of their hard copy during morning break, lunch, or after school in the IB office. They will keep a copy for themselves.
  • They should NOT miss class for Personal Project. They are not excused to submit or complete Personal Project. They should be focused on class work in class, not Personal Project.

Personal Project Exhibition Thursday

  • Students go to Tutor Group for attendance
  • After Tutor group they go to the Theater
  • Y 9 classes P 3 escort your y9 class to the theater.
  • Y9 classes P 4 they will already be in the theater
  • Teachers come and visit to have a look at the work you will start grading.

Standardization PD Monday MPR3 3:00pm

The purpose of the standardization PD is to:

  • Develop understandings of IB Command Terms
  • Develop understandings of application of command terms across subjects
  • practice application of assessment criteria across subjects
  • develop an understanding of the skills and abilities our students have as they approach the IB Diploma program.

Below are the Task Specific Clarifications for Personal Project. The task-specific column represents the schools 'definitive standard' of what is expected. Please have this document accessible for the Standardization PD

Below is the Personal Project Standardization Webinar broadcast earlier this month, January 2018. It shows a team of people standardizing the assessment of a Personal Project in Real-time. It is not required viewing but may help provide insight into assessment and moderation for those who are interested. It is about 1:06 hours long.
