This week’s message

Welcome back! We hoped you enjoyed the well-earned break.

This semester we will be building upon our focus on the school Vision and Mission that we have started earlier this year by developing our understanding of the Learner Profile Attributes as our official School-Wide Outcomes, and the ATL skills as our official Global Competencies. Please see the graphics at the top of this page. 

Our first day back will involve a half day of PD looking at how the LP's are expressed throughout the school K-12.

The final hour of the day will be dedicated to working in department teams to include a learner profile in the unit planners.

Samples of assessed work: The IB office has been asking departments for samples of assessed work and completed units for DP, and assessed work for MYP (MYP already has  BQC unit samples so only needs assessment samples). Please talk to your HOD if you have questions.


Year 10 Subject Application Process for IB DIploma

·                   Monday, Dec 4 was a parent presentation for Y 10 DP Subject Selection
·                   Monday, Dec 4,  All Y 10 students completed the Service and Action requirements for progressing to Y 11
·                   Y10 students took their career and personality profile test Monday, Dec 11 7:40-11:10 as part of the subject application process.
·                   Jan 25 successful completion of the Personal Project is a pivotal moment in the Y 10 progression to year 11

Personal Project Corner

The personal project is the single most significant piece of academic work our students have completed in their entire lives. It is the Capstone of the MYP, and a good indicator of how students will succeed in the DP, and an important step on their journey to lifelong learning.

We would like to thank everyone for the work they have put in to help students with this!

Up-coming dates:
·                   Jan 22  Mon, Students Submit the Report
·                   Jan  25 Thurs Exhibition (Teachers can visit their student and see their work)

·                   Mon Jan 22 after school PD. Clarification of Criteria A,B,C,D. Clarification of roles in grading teams
·                   Mon Jan 29 Work in Teams standardizing grades
·                   Wed Jan 31 Work in Teams standardizing grades

Work you do on PP as a supervisor or on a grading team can be considered in the PGD. It could relate to any of the following three: Professionalism, Professional Knowledge, Assessment.

Service and Action corner
All students have submitted their service action journal, 7-10.
There is one SA Curriculum link for each year of the program. The units that are linked to SA are:

·                   Y8 Sci Math IDU Trip in April
·                   Y9 Hum Eng  IDU NHD Presentation
