This week’s message

Welcome to the final week of this year. We hope you are all looking forward to a rewarding and well-earned summer!

We would like to thank you for all the work you have done this year with the IB curriculum and Self Study preparation. It was a lot of work with documentation, and from it we have:
  • ·        Subject group overviews for MYP that will be posted on        the school webpage
  • ·        Course overviews for DP
  • ·        Progression of learnings for MYP being developed
  • ·        IDU Units planned for each Year level next year
  • ·        The Self Study ready for the final stages in Semester 1    next year.

During Semester 2 we received feedback from BQC which stated:

Most of the teachers at Global Jaya School have developed rich statements of inquiry that have the potential to support transferable understanding and direct purposeful learning. The statements of inquiry are communicated in student-friendly language that invites inquiry and engagement.

The units reviewed demonstrate that most teachers are familiar with the current subject guides and include prescribed concepts, contexts and some approaches to learning skills in their planning.


All of the above leaves us in a good position next year to transfer some of our focus from the written curriculum and documentation to the taught curriculum and instructional activities in the classroom which are probably closer to teachers’ hearts then some of the ‘boxy’ documents we face this year.
